Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your fresh vegetables. Finely julienne the cabbage and carrot. Wash the lettuce leaves, pat them dry, and tear them into bite-sized pieces. Having your vegetables prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the fantastic sauce that defines the flavor of Jjolmyeon! In a large bowl, combine 5 and 1/3 tablespoons of gochujang, 1 tablespoon of gochugaru, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 7 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Whisk everything together until well combined and smooth. This will create your delicious sauce.
Step 3
When cooking the Jjolmyeon noodles, bring a generous pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the noodles and cook for about 4 minutes. It’s important to get the cooking time just right, as overcooked noodles can become mushy. We recommend setting a timer to ensure the perfect chewy texture.
Step 4
Once the noodles are cooked, drain them in a colander. Immediately rinse them thoroughly under cold running water several times. This step is crucial for removing excess starch and achieving that desirable firm, chewy bite. Make sure to rinse until the noodles are completely cooled.
Step 5
Arrange the prepared vegetables attractively in a serving bowl. Place the drained and cooled Jjolmyeon noodles on top of the vegetables. Now, generously spoon the pre-made spicy and tangy sauce over the noodles, getting ready to mix everything together.
Step 6
For an extra touch, add a halved boiled egg as a garnish. Sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds over the top for added flavor and visual appeal. Your delicious Jjolmyeon, guaranteed to make your mouth water, is now ready!
Step 7
On a hot day when your appetite is low, enjoying this refreshing bowl of Jjolmyeon is the perfect solution. Rediscover your appetite with the perfect balance of spicy, sour, and sweet flavors!
