Today, I’m sharing a fantastic side dish that will make you devour a whole bowl of rice: Tuna Gochujang Stir-fry! This simple tuna ssamjang (paste) is quick to make and perfect for busy days when you want a delicious meal. Say goodbye to side dish dilemmas!
Ingredients- 1/2 Onion
- 2 handfuls Green Onion (approx. 100g)
- 1 can Tuna (200g)
- 0.5 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 5 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 50ml Water
- 2 Tbsp Oligodang (Korean corn syrup) or honey
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Finely dice the half onion. Dicing it small will help its sweetness fully infuse into the dish.
Step 2
Chop about two handfuls (approx. 100g) of green onions. Chopping them finely makes them easier for everyone to enjoy.
Step 3
Heat a pan and add the diced onion and chopped green onions. Drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil. Sautéing with sesame oil first adds a wonderful aroma.
Step 4
Add 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic and stir-fry over high heat until the onions become slightly translucent. This step removes the raw onion taste and brings out its sweetness.
Step 5
Once the onions are sufficiently cooked, add the 200g can of tuna (drained) and 5 Tbsp of gochujang.
Step 6
Using a spatula or spoon, stir-fry and mix the ingredients together, breaking up any large clumps of tuna. Ensure the tuna, onions, and gochujang are well combined.
Step 7
Pour in 50ml of water and 2 Tbsp of oligodang (or honey). Bring to a simmer over medium heat and continue to stir-fry until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 8
When the sauce has reduced to your desired consistency and looks glossy, turn off the heat. Stir in the remaining 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for an extra fragrant finish.
Step 9
Your delicious Tuna Gochujang Stir-fry is ready! It’s a true rice-stealing dish. Spoon generously over warm rice for an incredibly satisfying meal.
