Main Ingredients- 2 cans Tuna (200g each)
- 1 stalk Green Onion
- 1/4 Onion
- 1/4 Carrot
Seasoning- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Mirin (Rice Wine)
- 2 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup)
- 3 Tbsp Gochujang (Red Chili Paste)
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Mirin (Rice Wine)
- 2 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup)
- 3 Tbsp Gochujang (Red Chili Paste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the delicious seasoning for our spicy tuna stir-fry. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of mirin, 2 tablespoons of oligodang, and 3 tablespoons of gochujang. Mix them thoroughly with a spoon until you have a well-balanced blend of sweetness, spiciness, and savory flavor.
Step 2
Now, let’s prepare the vegetables. Finely chop 1 stalk of green onion (after washing it well). Peel and very finely mince 1/4 onion and 1/4 carrot. Mincing the vegetables finely will help them integrate beautifully with the tuna.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Cooking the green onions first will release their aromatic oils, adding a deeper flavor to the dish.
Step 4
Once the green onions become fragrant, add the minced onion and carrot to the pan. Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, or until the vegetables soften slightly and become translucent. This step ensures the vegetables are cooked through and tender.
Step 5
When the vegetables are tender, pour the prepared seasoning mixture into the pan. Stir everything together to coat the vegetables evenly with the sauce. Be mindful of the heat to prevent the sauce from burning.
Step 6
It’s time to add the tuna! Drain most of the oil from the 2 cans of tuna (200g each). Add the tuna to the pan and stir-fry with the seasoned vegetables for 3 minutes, ensuring the tuna is well coated. Avoid overcooking, as this can make the tuna dry and crumbly.
Step 7
Finally, taste the stir-fry and adjust the seasoning if needed. For an extra boost of umami, you can add a tiny splash of oyster sauce. Oyster sauce enhances the savory notes, but use it sparingly to avoid making the dish too salty. Taste as you go! Your delicious homemade spicy tuna stir-fry is now ready to be enjoyed over a bowl of warm rice.
