Spicy & Sweet Stir-Fried Dried Fish (Gwamegi) with Gochujang
A Delicious Side Dish: Stir-Fried Gwamegi with Gochujang
This stir-fried gwamegi with gochujang makes a delicious and unique side dish. It’s quick to make and the chewy texture of the dried fish combined with the sweet and spicy sauce is a guaranteed hit with rice.
Main Ingredients- 6 pieces of prepared gwamegi
- 2 Korean green chilies (Cheongyang peppers)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the gwamegi. Heat a pan over medium heat, then place the gwamegi on it and lightly stir-fry. This step helps to remove excess oil from the gwamegi and enhances its chewy texture. Wipe away any rendered oil from the pan with a paper towel.
Step 2
Now it’s time to season. Add 1.5 Tbsp of gochujang and 1 Tbsp of rice wine (or soju) to the stir-fried gwamegi. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly. Be careful, as it can burn easily. Stir-fry rapidly to ensure the sauce coats the gwamegi well.
Step 3
Finally, add 2 finely chopped Korean green chilies (washed and sliced) and stir-fry together. Once the chilies are slightly cooked, turn off the heat and drizzle with a little sesame oil to finish. This completes your simple yet delicious stir-fried gwamegi with gochujang. It’s great served immediately or can be enjoyed after cooling.
