Tteokbokki Ingredients
- Tteokbokki rice cakes: 2/3 bag (approx. 250-300g)
- Water: 2 paper cups (approx. 360ml)
Spicy & Sweet Sauce
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste): 2 tsp
- Oligodang (corn syrup/sweetener): 1 tsp
- Sugar: 1.3 tsp
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste): 2 tsp
- Oligodang (corn syrup/sweetener): 1 tsp
- Sugar: 1.3 tsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by making the key to delicious Tteokbokki: the sauce. Pour 2 paper cups of water (approx. 360ml) into a pot.
Step 2
Measure out 2 teaspoons (tsp) of Gochujang and add it to the pot. This forms the base of the spicy flavor.
Step 3
Add 1 teaspoon (tsp) of Oligodang for sweetness. This will add shine and a smooth, sweet taste.
Step 4
Add 1.3 teaspoons (tsp) of sugar. This helps balance the flavors without making it too sweet. (Adjust to your preference!)
Step 5
Now, mix the sauce ingredients thoroughly with the water in the pot. Stir until the sauce is well dissolved in the water.
Step 6
Prepare the Tteokbokki rice cakes. I used about 2/3 of a bag (approx. 250-300g). If the rice cakes are stuck together, it’s helpful to separate them beforehand.
Step 7
Add all the prepared rice cakes to the pot with the sauce. They will now start absorbing the sauce and becoming delicious Tteokbokki.
