  • 1 can Spam (340g)
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil

Seasoning

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp corn syrup

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the Cheongyang peppers thoroughly, remove the stems, and shake out the seeds. Finely mince them. Be careful not to cut your fingers while chopping and work in a well-ventilated area as the spicy aroma can be strong.

Step 1

Step 2

Open the Spam can, remove the meat, and mash it with a fork or knife. Aim for a texture that still has some chunky bits, rather than a completely smooth paste.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. Once the oil is warm, add the minced Cheongyang peppers and sauté for about 2-3 minutes. The peppers should soften slightly and release their spicy fragrance.

Step 3

Step 4

As the fragrant spicy scent of the peppers rises, add the mashed Spam to the pan. Stir-fry them together for about 3-4 minutes until the Spam is lightly browned and well combined with the peppers.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the Spam is cooked to your liking, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of corn syrup. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are evenly coated. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Be careful not to burn the mixture. The paste is ready when it becomes glossy and slightly thickened.
