This is a quick and flavorful spicy stir-fried fish cake recipe, perfect for when you need a side dish in a hurry! Main Ingredients- 3 sheets of flat fish cakes (eomuk, approximately 200-250g)
- 1/2 medium onion
- 3 Korean chili peppers (gochu, adjust to your spice preference)
Seasoning Ingredients- 4 Tbsp cooking oil
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce (regular or soup soy sauce)
- 1/2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligo syrup)
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 4 Tbsp cooking oil
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce (regular or soup soy sauce)
- 1/2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligo syrup)
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, briefly blanch the fish cakes in boiling water to remove excess oil. Rinse them under cold water, squeeze out any excess moisture, and then cut them into bite-sized pieces (about 1cm thick). Thinly slice the onion and finely chop the Korean chili peppers. (If you like it spicier, you can leave the seeds in.)
Step 2
In a wide pan, combine the prepared fish cakes, sliced onion, and chopped chili peppers. Add the cooking oil, soy sauce, gochugaru, and minced garlic. Gently mix everything together with your hands (or a spoon) to ensure the seasonings coat all the ingredients evenly. This marinating step helps the flavors meld beautifully.
Step 3
Place the seasoned ingredients in the pan over medium heat and begin to stir-fry. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the onions become translucent and soften.
