Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 stalks of Green Onion
  • 0.5 medium Onion
  • 1 can (100g) Tuna, drained
  • 1/4 can Spam
  • 3 bowls of Cooked Rice (warm)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, finely chop 1.5 stalks of green onion. Sautéing the green onions will release their aroma and significantly enhance the flavor of the fried rice.

Step 2

Peel and finely dice half an onion. Dicing it small will ensure it blends well into the fried rice and adds a pleasant texture.

Step 3

Dice 1/4 can of Spam into small, bite-sized pieces. The savory and salty flavor of Spam will enrich the fried rice.

Step 4

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and onions, and sauté until they become translucent and fragrant. Cooking them thoroughly until sweet is key.

Step 5

Once the onions start to soften, add the drained 100g can of tuna and the diced Spam. Stir-fry them together. If you include some of the tuna’s oil, it will add even more depth of flavor.

Step 6

Now, add 1 tablespoon of sugar to bring out the sweetness, and continue to stir-fry until the tuna and Spam are lightly browned and cooked.

Step 7

After stir-frying the ingredients, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 3 tablespoons of gochujang, the star ingredient for this gochujang fried rice. Mix well to coat all ingredients evenly with the seasoning.

Step 8

Once the sauce is well combined with the ingredients, add 3 bowls of warm cooked rice. Gently break up the rice with a spatula, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the grains. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the rice is slightly crispy and not mushy.

Step 9

Turn off the heat. Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper to remove any gamey odors, then drizzle 0.5 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma. Mix everything together one last time for a delicious tuna gochujang fried rice.

Step 10

Enjoy this irresistible gochujang fried rice, where every grain of rice is bursting with flavor thanks to the rich seasoning! Adding a fried egg on top is also a fantastic idea.
