Inspired by the irresistible crab stir-fry from Amaihongge! This recipe brings you a deliciously spicy and savory crab dish that’s perfect for any meal. We use succulent snow crab body meat and a special homemade sauce featuring ramen broth powder and gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) to create an explosion of umami. This versatile crab stir-fry is not just a fantastic side dish for rice but also elevates ramen, noodle soups, sujebi, and even doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). Get ready to impress your family with this flavorful and satisfying homemade delicacy!
Main Ingredients- 1kg Snow crab body meat
- 2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 3 Tbsp chopped green onions
- 2 Tbsp peanut oil or vegetable oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat the peanut oil (or vegetable oil) in a large, deep pan over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped green onions, and stir-fry until fragrant and a delicious garlic-scented oil and onion oil are produced. This step is crucial for bringing out the flavors, so be careful not to burn them.
Step 2
Cut the naturally thawed snow crab body meat into bite-sized pieces. In the same pan, combine the crab meat with all the sauce ingredients: sugar, gochugaru, ramen broth powder, cooking wine, and soy sauce. Stir-fry quickly over high heat to coat the crab meat evenly with the sauce. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated. This concentrates the crab’s flavor and creates a rich base if you plan to use it in broths or stews.
Step 3
Your delicious crab stir-fry is complete, with the sauce wonderfully reduced! Wow! It tastes exactly like the original. The explosion of umami and savory flavors makes this an absolute rice thief – it’s so good you’ll eat it with rice until it’s all gone!
Step 4
Once completely cooled, store the crab stir-fry in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can last for at least 2 weeks, although it might disappear faster given how delicious and versatile it is! This Amaihongge-style crab stir-fry is a spicy and flavorful dish with many uses, perfect for adding a special touch to any meal.
