Ingredients

  • 1 block Firm Tofu (firm or stewing type)
  • 3 pieces Pollack Roe, 1 Tbsp Shrimp Paste (adjust shrimp paste for saltiness)
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp Chopped Green Onion
  • 700ml Broth or Water (anchovy-kelp broth, seafood broth, or plain water are all suitable)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

For a super-speedy Myeongran Dubu Jjigae, prepare all ingredients at once! Place the roughly chopped tofu, prepared pollack roe (you can add it whole or cut into 3 pieces), shrimp paste, minced garlic, and chopped green onion into the pot. It’s simple but guaranteed to be delicious!

Step 1

Step 2

Pour 700ml of broth over the prepared ingredients. Since both pollack roe and shrimp paste are salty, it’s important to use plenty of broth to balance the flavors. Using a store-bought seafood broth will add a deeper umami flavor, but if you don’t have it, anchovy-kelp broth or plain water will work perfectly well.

Step 2

Step 3

Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. Once the soup is vigorously boiling, skim off any foam that rises to the surface. This will make the broth cleaner and more refreshing. At this stage, you can add a drop or two of sesame oil according to your preference for added nutty flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

And there you have it – super simple and super speedy Myeongran Dubu Jjigae! It’s so good, you’ll finish a whole bowl of rice. If you find the seasoning too mild, simply add a bit more shrimp paste to adjust the saltiness to your liking. Enjoy this delicious stew with a hot bowl of rice!
