Ingredients- 1 piece Chicken breast
- 3 leaves Cabbage
- 1/4 stalk Green onion
- 1/2 medium Onion
- 1/3 medium Carrot
- 1/2 Cheongyang chili pepper (or other chili pepper)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 bowl Cooked rice
- Pinch of Black pepper
- 1 Tbsp Cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, dice the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. (Using smoked chicken breast will add extra tenderness and flavor, but regular chicken breast or your preferred type will also work wonderfully.)
Step 2
Slice the green onion diagonally. Thinly julienne the onion and carrot. Finely mince the Cheongyang chili pepper to add a pleasant kick.
Step 3
Julienne the cabbage leaves as well. This will help them soften nicely and integrate well with the other ingredients when stir-fried.
Step 4
Now, let’s start stir-frying! Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the diced chicken breast and begin to cook.
Step 5
As you stir-fry the chicken, season it with a pinch of black pepper. This helps to eliminate any gamey odors and makes the chicken more tender. Continue to cook until the chicken breast is fully cooked through.
Step 6
Once the chicken is cooked, add the julienned onion, carrot, and sliced green onion to the pan. Stir-fry until the vegetables begin to turn translucent.
Step 7
When the onion starts to turn white, add the julienned cabbage. Stir-fry until the cabbage wilts and becomes tender, ensuring it’s cooked but not mushy.
Step 8
Once the cabbage has softened, add the minced Cheongyang chili pepper. Stir briefly to release its fragrant spice.
Step 9
Next, add the minced garlic. Stir-fry quickly for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 10
Add the gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) at this stage. Stir well to distribute the spice evenly throughout the mixture.
Step 11
Finally, pour in the soy sauce. Stir everything together quickly to ensure the seasoning coats all the ingredients evenly.
Step 12
Once the flavors have melded, turn the heat up to high and stir-fry rapidly for about 1 minute. This quick high-heat stir-fry adds a delicious smoky ‘wok hei’ flavor. And just like that, your delicious chicken breast and cabbage stir-fry is ready!
Step 13
Spoon the flavorful stir-fried chicken breast and cabbage mixture generously over a bowl of warm cooked rice.
Step 14
Voila! Your healthy and delicious Chicken Breast and Cabbage Rice Bowl is complete. Enjoy your meal!
