- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
Spicy Seasoning Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, adjust for spiciness)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar (adjust for sweetness)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 cup Water (approx. 100ml)
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, adjust for spiciness)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar (adjust for sweetness)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 cup Water (approx. 100ml)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the delicious seasoning sauce for the fish cakes. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp Gochujang, 2 Tbsp Gochugaru, 1 Tbsp Sugar, 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce, and 1 tsp Minced Garlic. Add 1/2 cup (approx. 100ml) of water. Stir well with a spoon until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed to create the sauce. Preparing the sauce in advance will help shorten your cooking time.
Step 2
Heat 1-2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced green onions and onion to the pan and stir-fry. Sautéing the aromatics first infuses the oil with their flavors, resulting in a more fragrant and delicious fish cake dish.
Step 3
Once the onions become translucent and you can smell the fragrant aroma of the green onions, add the fish cakes, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3cm). Stir-fry them together with the vegetables for 1-2 minutes. Stir-frying the fish cakes briefly will enhance their chewy texture.
Step 4
When the fish cakes start to turn slightly golden brown, pour in all the prepared seasoning sauce. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly. It’s important to stir continuously with a spatula to ensure the sauce coats the fish cakes and vegetables evenly. Stir-frying over high heat for a short period prevents the sauce from burning and gives it a glossy finish.
Step 5
Once the sauce has thickened and coats the fish cakes with a glossy sheen, your dish is complete! Turn off the heat and sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top for an added nutty aroma. Enjoy this delicious stir-fried fish cake with a bowl of hot rice!
