  • Ingredient Category : Dried seafood
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Braise
  • Servings : 3 servings
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 300g Dried Shrimp (rinsed and drained)
  • 7 Cheongyang Peppers (stems removed, halved lengthwise)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the dried shrimp. You can lightly toast them in a dry pan to remove any fishy smell, or simply rinse them under running water and drain well. Either method works well depending on your preference.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, prepare the Cheongyang peppers. Remove the stems and then cut them in half lengthwise. It’s best to include the seeds for a spicier kick, which is the star of this dish. If you prefer less heat, you can remove some of the seeds or mix in milder peppers.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s make the delicious sauce. Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of gochujang and 1 tablespoon of oligodang. Pour in 1/2 cup of water and stir to combine the ingredients. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the sauce is simmering nicely, add the prepared Cheongyang peppers and dried shrimp to the pan. It’s best to cook this over medium-low heat rather than high heat. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully and the ingredients to absorb the sauce thoroughly.

Step 4

Step 5

While the dish is simmering, stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking or burning at the bottom of the pan. Gently toss the ingredients as if you are mixing them to ensure they are evenly coated with the sauce. Continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and the shrimp are glossy. This means your Cheongyang pepper and shrimp stir-fry is ready!

Step 5

Step 6

Your spicy and sweet Cheongyang pepper and shrimp stir-fry is complete! Serve it over warm rice for a delicious rice bowl, or enjoy it as a fantastic appetizer with a cold beer. Don’t forget to mix any leftover sauce with your rice – it’s incredibly tasty!
