Main Ingredients

  • 400g Pork Shoulder (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 500g Bean Sprouts (washed thoroughly under cold water and drained)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, stir-fry the pork shoulder in a separate pan until it’s partially cooked. Cooking the pork separately helps to remove any gamey odor and seals in the juices, resulting in a more flavorful dish.

Step 2

In a large pan or wok, spread the washed bean sprouts evenly. Place the pre-cooked pork on top of the bean sprouts. Add 2 Tbsp cooking oil, 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp sugar, 3 Tbsp gochugaru, the chopped green onion, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 1/2 cup water. Cover the pan and cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes. The goal is to cook the bean sprouts until they are crisp-tender.

Step 3

After 3 minutes, remove the lid and stir everything together to ensure the seasonings are well distributed. Gently mix while continuing to cook for a short while. Now, gradually add the cornstarch slurry (2 Tbsp water mixed with 2 Tbsp cornstarch) while stirring, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Finally, drizzle in 1 Tbsp sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a beautiful finish. Your delicious and savory Kongbul is ready to be served over hot rice!
