Main Ingredients- Pork for Bulgogi, 400g
- Squid, 1 medium
- Bean Sprouts, 400g
- Garlic, 5 cloves
- Cabbage, 1/4 head
- Onion, 1 medium
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the squid by cleaning it thoroughly and then slicing it into bite-sized pieces, about 1cm thick. Slice about a handful of cabbage and 1 medium onion. Rinse 400g of bean sprouts under running water until clean and set them aside.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the seasoning. Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) directly to the hot pan and stir-fry briefly to release its aroma, being careful not to burn it. Avoid using high heat at this stage.
Step 3
Add the minced garlic (or whole cloves) and the sliced onion to the pan with the gochugaru. Stir-fry them together until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic releases its fragrance. This step helps to bring out the natural sweetness and flavor from the vegetables.
Step 4
Let’s prepare the squid bulgogi sauce. Combine 2 tablespoons of gochujang (Korean chili paste), 2 tablespoons of oligodang (corn syrup) or honey, 1 tablespoon of mirin (rice wine), 1 tablespoon of plum extract, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix well. Finally, stir in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for added aroma to complete the delicious sauce.
Step 5
Finally, add the prepared squid and bean sprouts to the pan with the sauce. Mix everything together well to ensure the sauce coats all ingredients evenly. Crucially, cook with the lid completely open over medium heat. Closing the lid while cooking can cause the squid to become fishy, so leaving it open will help preserve its fresh flavor.
