Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a bit of cooking oil in a wide pan over medium heat and add the ground pork. Stir-fry, breaking up any clumps, until the pork is mostly cooked.
Step 2
Once the pork has changed color, add 1 tsp of minced garlic and continue to stir-fry until the garlic is fragrant. This step helps remove any porky smell and enhances the flavor.
Step 3
After stir-frying the garlic and pork together, add 1 tsp gochujang, 2 tsp gochugaru, 1 tsp soy sauce, and 2 tsp oligo-dang. Stir well to ensure the seasoning coats the pork evenly. Your delicious spicy pork stir-fry is ready!
Step 4
Now, let’s make the special sauce that will elevate your bibimbap! While it’s my secret recipe, I’m happy to share it with you. In a bowl, combine 1/2 tsp gochujang, 1 tsp gochugaru, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, and 3 tsp plum extract. Mix everything together until well combined. This creates a wonderfully tangy and savory bibimbap sauce.
Step 5
Wash the fresh lettuce leaves thoroughly and then chop them into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm wide.
Step 6
Bring a pot of water to a boil and add a pinch of salt. Add the bean sprouts and blanch for about 1 minute. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy. Immediately rinse the blanched bean sprouts under cold water to preserve their crisp texture.
Step 7
Finally, make a beautiful sunny-side-up egg, ensuring the yolk remains runny (or cook to your preference).
Step 8
Place the warm rice into a serving bowl. Drizzle about 2 tsp of the prepared bibimbap sauce over the rice. This is the base seasoning for your bibimbap.
Step 9
Now, let’s assemble your bibimbap beautifully! Place the fried egg in the center of the rice, with the yolk visible. Arrange the spicy pork stir-fry, chopped lettuce, crisp bean sprouts, and shredded seaweed (gim) attractively around the egg.
Step 10
Your colorful and delicious Pork Gochujang Bibimbap is complete! Mix well and enjoy your meal!
