Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1/2 Green Onion (Scallion)
  • A little Cooking Oil

Spicy & Sweet Marinade

  • 3 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean Chili Paste)
  • 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean Chili Flakes)
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Cheongju (Rice Wine)
  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1/3 Tbsp Ginger Juice
  • 1/3 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 1/3 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • Pinch of Black Pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the vegetables. Peel the onion and slice it into thin strips about 0.5 cm thick. Cut the green onion diagonally into approximately 3 cm lengths. Prepping the vegetables like this will make cooking much smoother.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s make the delicious marinade! In a bowl, combine 3 Tbsp Gochujang, 1 Tbsp Gochugaru, 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 Tbsp Sugar, 1 Tbsp Cheongju, 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic, 1/3 Tbsp Ginger Juice, 1/3 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds, 1/3 Tbsp Sesame Oil, and a pinch of Black Pepper. Mix them thoroughly until smooth and well combined. This golden ratio guarantees a fantastic flavor!

Step 2

Step 3

Gently pat the 200g of pork neck dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Then, add all the prepared marinade to the pork and mix it well by massaging it with your hands. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. This step is key to making the pork tender and succulent.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a little cooking oil. Add the marinated pork and the sliced onion to the pan. Stir-fry over high heat for about 1 minute to sear the meat. Then, reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook until the liquid released from the meat has evaporated and the pork is fully cooked through. Stir frequently to prevent burning.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the pork is almost cooked, add the diagonally sliced green onions to the pan. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the green onions are slightly softened and fragrant. When all the ingredients are well combined, turn off the heat and enjoy your delicious Kongnamul Bulgogi!
