Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare one pack of fresh chamnamul. Chamnamul is delicious in soybean paste soup, but it’s also wonderful when dressed like this. It’s an attractive herb that can be used in various dishes. Today, we’ll make a fragrant gochujang salad with this chamnamul.
Step 2
Rinse the washed chamnamul under running water, drain well, and then cut it into bite-sized pieces (about 5cm long). Cutting them not too long makes the seasoning spread evenly and easier to eat.
Step 3
Finely mince 2 cloves of garlic. Freshly minced garlic is essential for the best flavor in homemade namul salads. It adds depth and a pleasant pungent kick.
Step 4
In a wide bowl, combine 1 Tbsp gochujang, 1/2 Tbsp gochugaru, and 1 Tbsp vinegar (regular vinegar).
Step 5
Next, add 1 tsp sugar, 1 Tbsp maesilcheong, and 1 Tbsp minced garlic. Stir well to combine all the dressing ingredients, creating a delicious sauce. The sweetness, acidity, and spiciness of the ingredients come together harmoniously. Adjust the taste with a tiny pinch of salt if needed, according to your preference.
Step 6
Add the prepared chamnamul to the bowl with the dressing. Gently toss the ingredients together using your fingertips. Be careful not to mash the leaves by mixing too vigorously; tenderly massaging the salad is key. Ensure the seasoning coats the chamnamul evenly.
Step 7
Finally, drizzle with a bit of sesame oil for a nutty aroma and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Your delicious Gochujang Chamnamul Salad is ready! The combination of fragrant chamnamul and the sweet and spicy dressing is truly delightful.
