- 0.5 Tbsp Herb Salt (or a pinch of salt and pepper)
Spicy-Sweet Glaze Sauce- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Sake
- 2 Tbsp Vinegar
- 4 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (adjust sweetness as desired)
- 3 Tbsp Ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Sake
- 2 Tbsp Vinegar
- 4 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (adjust sweetness as desired)
- 3 Tbsp Ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the star of your delicious chicken dish: 2 packs of chicken drumettes (approximately 500-600g).
Step 2
Rinse the chicken drumettes thoroughly under running water to remove any impurities. Pat them completely dry with paper towels. Drying the chicken well is crucial for achieving a crispy texture and preventing oil splatters when frying or baking.
Step 3
It’s marinating time! Add 2 tablespoons of cooking sake to the drumettes to eliminate any gamey chicken odor. Then, sprinkle with 0.5 tablespoon of herb salt and gently massage it into the chicken. Let it marinate for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
Step 4
Arrange the marinated drumettes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap. This allows for proper air circulation, leading to even cooking.
Step 5
First cooking stage! Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) and cook for 12 minutes. The drumettes should start to turn golden brown.
Step 6
After 12 minutes, open the air fryer, check the doneness of the drumettes, and flip them over. Flipping is essential for ensuring they cook evenly on all sides.
Step 7
Return the drumettes to the air fryer and cook for another 10 minutes at 200°C (390°F). A total cooking time of about 22 minutes should result in perfectly cooked, crispy chicken.
Step 8
Tip! Cooking times and temperatures can vary slightly depending on your specific air fryer model. It’s a good idea to check the chicken periodically and adjust the heat or time as needed to prevent burning. If the skin starts to brown too quickly, lower the temperature slightly or reduce the cooking time.
Step 9
While the chicken is cooking, let’s make the delicious glaze!
Step 10
In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of cooking sake, 3 tablespoons of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 4 tablespoons of oligosaccharide, sesame oil, and a pinch of black pepper. Whisk everything together until well combined to create the glaze. You can substitute oligosaccharide with honey or corn syrup if preferred.
Step 11
Pour the prepared glaze into a saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium-low heat. Once it starts to bubble around the edges, let it simmer for about 2 more minutes. Simmering the sauce helps to mellow the sharp tanginess of the vinegar and ketchup, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
Step 12
Add all the well-cooked chicken drumettes to the simmering glaze.
Step 13
Quickly toss the drumettes to coat them evenly with the glaze. This is the final step to creating your delicious spicy and sweet chicken! Toss quickly to prevent the chicken from becoming soggy.
Step 14
Your mouth-watering, spicy and sweet air fryer chicken wings are ready! They are best enjoyed immediately while hot. This is a perfect dish for the whole family to enjoy.
