Spicy and Savory Red Seasoned Bean Sprouts: A Perfect Side Dish Recipe
How to Make Delicious Seasoned Bean Sprouts with a Spicy Kick
Let’s make some flavorful seasoned bean sprouts with plenty of gochugaru (red pepper flakes). This simple dish is incredibly satisfying and pairs perfectly with rice.
Main Ingredients- 1 bag (approx. 300g) fresh bean sprouts
- 1 piece (20cm length) white part of green onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water to remove any impurities. Drain them well. If there are any root ends, trimming them will help the seasoning adhere better.
Step 2
The secret to perfectly cooked bean sprouts! Fill a pot with enough water to cover the bean sprouts and add the prepared bean sprouts. Close the lid tightly and bring to a boil over high heat. When you can clearly smell the nutty aroma of the bean sprouts, indicating they are ready, turn off the heat immediately. Overcooking will make them mushy. Immediately rinse the cooked bean sprouts in cold water to stop the cooking process and drain them completely in a colander to maintain their crispness.
Step 3
In a large bowl, add the thoroughly drained bean sprouts. Sprinkle in the prepared seasoning ingredients: whole sesame seeds, fine gochugaru, and minced garlic. Gently toss them to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Step 4
Now, add the fragrant sesame oil, finely chopped green onion, and Korean sea salt. Wash your hands clean and gently mix everything together with your hands (like ‘jomal-jomal’). Be careful not to mash the bean sprouts. Taste the mixture and, if needed, add a tiny bit more salt to adjust the seasoning to your liking.
Step 5
Your delicious and crisp spicy seasoned bean sprouts are ready! They are fantastic served over warm rice for a simple meal or as a delightful side dish with other Korean meals. Enjoy your flavorful creation!
