Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s clean the clams thoroughly. Put on rubber gloves and scrub the clam shells vigorously to remove any dirt. Then, pull off the beard-like strings (byssus threads). This step ensures a cleaner broth.

Step 2

Prepare 9 freshly cleaned, vibrant clams. The freshness of the clams is key to the broth’s flavor, so choose good quality ones.

Step 3

Prepare the bok choy for a crisp texture and the oyster mushrooms for a chewy bite, cut into bite-sized pieces. Feel free to adjust the amount of vegetables to your liking or add other vegetables.

Step 4

Boil a generous amount of water. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, add all 9 prepared clams.

Step 5

As the clams begin to open, add the ‘Refreshing Seafood Flavor’ soup base, the ‘Spicy Aged Paste’, and the ‘Chives and Dried Vegetable Flakes’ from the Nongshim Spicy Jang-Kalguksu package. Stir well to dissolve. This is the moment the delicious broth of spicy Jang-Kalguksu is created!

Step 6

When the broth comes to a rolling boil again, add the Kalguksu noodles and cook them together. Stir occasionally to prevent the noodles from sticking.

Step 7

After boiling the noodles for about 3 minutes, add the prepared oyster mushrooms and bok choy, and continue to boil for another 2 minutes. The vegetables should be cooked just enough to retain their crispness for the best taste.

Step 8

Ta-da! Your delicious Clam Jang-Kalguksu is ready. Enjoy the wonderful combination of the hot, spicy broth, chewy noodles, and fresh seafood!
