  • Onion 1/2 (sliced thickly)
  • Green onion 1/2 (sliced diagonally)
  • Cheongyang chili pepper 1 (sliced diagonally, adjust to spice preference)

Spicy Seasoning Sauce

  • Soy sauce 7 Tbsp
  • Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 5 Tbsp
  • Oyster sauce 1 tsp
  • Sugar 2 Tbsp
  • Corn syrup 2 Tbsp
  • Minced garlic 3 Tbsp
  • Black pepper 1 tsp
  • Water 2 cups (400ml)

Cooking Instructions

First, thoroughly wash the bean sprouts under running water and drain them well in a colander. It’s important to maintain their crisp texture without any fishy smell.

In a bowl, combine all the seasoning sauce ingredients: soy sauce (7 Tbsp), gochugaru (5 Tbsp), oyster sauce (1 tsp), sugar (2 Tbsp), corn syrup (2 Tbsp), minced garlic (3 Tbsp), and black pepper (1 tsp).

Pour the 2 cups (400ml) of water into the seasoning mixture prepared in step 2. Stir well with a spoon until all the seasonings are dissolved. Make sure the sauce is smooth and lump-free.

Now, prepare the pot for the hot pot. In a wide, moderately deep pot, spread the prepared bean sprouts evenly on the bottom. Then, arrange the thickly sliced tofu on top of the bean sprouts, ensuring they are not overlapping.
