Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare two packs of delicious Budae Jjigae Ramen. Each pack includes a dried vegetable packet and a powder soup packet. I considered using only one powder soup packet initially, but decided to use both for a richer flavor.
Step 2
Prepare the key ingredients for a hearty Budae Jjigae: Vienna sausages, frankfurter sausages, and canned Spam. Score the Vienna sausages for a nice appearance, and slice the frankfurters diagonally. For the canned Spam, slice it thinly and then cut in half. The amount of Spam can be adjusted to your preference, but it’s best to use a moderate amount to avoid making it too greasy.
Step 3
In a pot, add 1L of water, 2 Tbsp of beef bone broth powder, 1 Tbsp of minced garlic, and 3 Tbsp of chopped green onions to create a basic broth. Add the dried vegetable packet and bring to a rolling boil to extract a deep flavor.
Step 4
Once the broth is boiling vigorously, add the powder soup and stir well to dissolve. Then, add all the prepared Spam, sausages, and rice cake soup slices. Boil once more to let the flavors meld together.
Step 5
The soup is turning a tempting red color as it boils, thanks to the powder soup. The delicious aroma rising from the ingredients is already making my mouth water!
Step 6
When the soup is bubbling sufficiently, it’s time to add the ramen noodles. The noodles for Budae Jjigae Ramen are thinner than regular ramen, so it’s crucial to boil them for exactly 1 minute and 30 seconds. If you boil them for too long, the noodles can become mushy. Therefore, be sure to keep track of the time after adding the noodles. Slightly undercooking them ensures they maintain their optimal texture by the time you eat.
Step 7
Serve the deliciously cooked Budae Jjigae Ramen directly from the aluminum pot onto the table. It looks appealing and keeps the ramen warm for longer. Place the cheddar cheese slice attractively in the center of the ramen. Finally, sprinkle with more chopped green onions as a garnish, and your authentic Budae Jjigae Ramen is complete!
