  • 1 block of Tofu (firm, pan-frying type recommended)
  • Inari Sushi Kit (for 4 servings, includes sushi rice seasoning)
  • 200g Chicken Breast (frozen or canned)
  • 1 Bell Pepper (any color you like)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare all the ingredients. You can use frozen chicken breast, or for convenience, canned chicken breast works perfectly too. In this recipe, we’ll focus on the mild flavors of tofu and chicken breast rather than the typical tangy taste of Inari sushi, so we won’t be using the vinegar packet from the kit. For the tofu, using a firm, pan-frying type will result in a better texture and less moisture.

Step 2

Steam the firm tofu in a steamer basket for about 10 minutes. Steaming helps to remove excess moisture, which prevents the filling from becoming too watery when you stuff the Inari pockets. Tip: If you don’t have a steamer, you can also boil the tofu in water until it’s firm.

Step 3

While the tofu is steaming, prepare the chicken breast. If using frozen chicken breast, microwave it for about 8 minutes until fully thawed and cooked through. If using canned chicken breast, drain it well before using.

Step 4

In a large bowl, combine the seasoning flakes from the Inari sushi kit and finely chopped bell pepper. Chop the bell pepper very finely for a better texture and appearance. Shred or finely chop the cooked chicken breast and add it to the bowl. Gently press the steamed tofu with paper towels to remove any excess water, then add it to the bowl as well.

Step 5

Now comes the mashing part! Using a fork or a spatula, mash all the ingredients in the bowl until well combined. This is a great way to release some stress! Make sure to mash thoroughly so that everything is nicely incorporated.

Step 6

Shape the mashed mixture into bite-sized balls. You can mold them like you would make rice balls or sushi rolls. These perfectly sized portions will be easy to stuff into the Inari pockets. They make great snacks for kids or additions to lunchboxes.

Step 7

Prepare the Inari pockets from the sushi kit. Gently squeeze out any excess liquid from inside the Inari pockets with your hands. Be careful not to squeeze too hard, or the pockets might tear.

Step 8

Carefully stuff each Inari pocket with the prepared filling. Press the filling down gently with a spoon to ensure it holds its shape. There you have it! A delicious, healthy, and satisfying meal that looks as good as it tastes. Enjoy your special Inari sushi!
