- Silicone Spatula
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to make some homemade candies that will make any special occasion even sweeter. I’ll be sharing a unique fruit candy recipe with chewy jelly bits, perfect for White Day or anniversaries.
Step 2
The special twist for these candies is using ‘Mogumogu Drinks’! These drinks contain chewy jelly pieces, which will add a fun texture surprise inside your candies. Today, we’re using two flavors: refreshing Lychee and sweet Peach. You can easily find Mogumogu drinks at convenience stores or supermarkets, typically costing around 1500 won per bottle.
Step 3
Alright, let’s start making these delicious White Day candies! First, grab a deep frying pan or a pot. We’ll be cooking this on a gas stove or induction cooktop.
Step 4
First up, we’ll make candies using the Lychee flavored Mogumogu drink. The process is the same for the Peach flavor, so follow along carefully!
Step 5
Pour 200ml of the Lychee Mogumogu drink into the deep frying pan. Turn the heat to high from the start.
Step 6
Add 150g of sugar and 100g of corn syrup to the pan.
Step 7
Keep the heat on high. We’ll let it boil until the sugar and corn syrup dissolve completely.
Step 8
After some time, the mixture of Mogumogu drink, sugar, and corn syrup will start to bubble and boil vigorously! Pay close attention from this point on.
Step 9
Using your silicone spatula, stir the mixture constantly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Step 10
As it cooks, the candy syrup will gradually thicken. Our goal is to achieve a consistency slightly thicker than corn syrup.
Step 11
Continue boiling and stirring over high heat for about 15 minutes. You’ll notice the liquid becoming thicker and the overall volume decreasing. Keep stirring with the silicone spatula.
Step 12
It’s important to check the consistency of the candy syrup. Make sure to check periodically to see if it’s reached the desired thickness.
Step 13
The delicious candy syrup, a blend of Mogumogu drink, sugar, and corn syrup, is coming together beautifully! ***Important Safety Note: The jelly pieces from the Mogumogu drink might pop out while boiling. Be very careful to avoid burns!***
Step 14
When you lift the syrup with the silicone spatula, if it reaches a consistency much thicker than corn syrup, as shown in the picture, remove the pan from the heat. Turn off the stove.
Step 15
Now, carefully pour the hot candy syrup into your heart-shaped silicone mold. You can use other cute silicone molds if you prefer! If you like, you can also add star candies before or after pouring the syrup for an extra special touch.
Step 16
Let the candies in the molds cool and harden naturally at room temperature. Make sure they are not too hot when you move them.
Step 17
Now, let’s make candies using the Peach flavored Mogumogu drink, following the exact same method as before.
Step 18
Place the deep frying pan on the stove, pour in 200ml of the Peach Mogumogu drink, and add 150g of sugar and 100g of corn syrup. Again, start with high heat.
Step 19
Boil over high heat for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the syrup becomes sufficiently thick, just as we described earlier. Remember to keep stirring!
Step 20
Pour the Peach flavored candy syrup into the heart-shaped silicone mold. (Tip: I filled about 3/5 of the molds with Lychee flavor and 2/5 with Peach flavor.) Allow the candies in the molds to harden completely in a cool place.
Step 21
***Key Candy Making Tip:*** You can control the hardness of your candies by adjusting the boiling time! The longer you boil and thicken the syrup, the harder and faster the candies will set in the mold. Conversely, boiling for a shorter time will result in softer, chewier candies.
Step 22
Once the candies are completely hard in the silicone molds, carefully turn the molds upside down and gently push out each candy. Aren’t the heart-shaped candies lovely! The colors turned out beautifully. (Tip: The Peach candies, being boiled slightly less, didn’t set as rigidly and had a softer, jelly-like texture, which was also quite charming!) Considering it’s my first attempt, I’m very satisfied with the results!
Step 23
I’ve plated the beautifully finished candies on a pretty dish. Aren’t the lovely pink and vibrant orange colors just captivating? Guys, if you make these thoughtful candies for your girlfriends, they will absolutely love them! Convey your love with a sweet gift.
Step 24
Wow… The Lychee candies turned out truly hard, with that perfect candy texture – it was amazing! The Peach candies, not being boiled as long, were soft and jelly-like, which offered a different kind of appeal. The Mogumogu jelly bits and star candies inside make each bite an exciting experience. Enjoying these candies is truly fun!
