Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by thoroughly washing the carrots. Grate about half of the carrots finely using a grater or blender. Dice the remaining half into small, approximately 0.5cm cubes. These prepared carrots will add texture and wonderful flavor to your hot dogs.
Step 2
Insert a wooden skewer firmly into each frankfurter. Then, wrap a slice of cheddar cheese around the outside of each sausage, pressing it gently to adhere. As it fries, the cheese will melt slightly, enhancing the overall taste.
Step 3
In a large bowl, combine the 300g of hot dog mix powder, 2 fresh eggs, and 200ml of warm milk. Add the finely grated carrots and a pinch of salt. Whisk or stir until you achieve a smooth, lump-free batter. The consistency should be thick enough to coat the sausages well without being too runny.
Step 4
First, dip the prepared sausages into the batter, ensuring they are evenly coated. Next, roll the battered sausages in the breadcrumbs to create a crispy exterior. Then, press the diced carrots onto the breadcrumb-coated sausages, ensuring they stick well. This step adds a delightful visual appeal and extra crunch.
Step 5
Pour about 500ml of cooking oil into a deep pan and heat it over medium heat. To test the oil’s temperature, drop a tiny bit of batter into the oil; it should sizzle and float to the surface immediately. Carefully place the prepared hot dogs into the hot oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remember to turn them occasionally to ensure even cooking and prevent burning.
Step 6
Once golden and crispy, remove the hot dogs from the oil and place them on paper towels or a wire rack to drain off excess oil. This ensures a cleaner, less greasy bite. Finally, serve your delicious carrot hot dogs with a drizzle of sugar, ketchup, and mustard according to your or your children’s preferences!
