- 1/2 onion, pureed

- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or similar)
Additional Ingredients- 1 long baguette
- Jack cheese slices (or Cheddar slices) – optional
- Shredded mozzarella cheese, generous amount
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the beef bulgogi. Thinly slice the onion, carrot, and bell pepper, and diagonally slice the green onion. In a large bowl, combine the beef, sliced vegetables, and all the marinade ingredients (soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, pureed pear, pureed onion, sesame oil, pepper, sesame seeds, and cooking wine). Mix well by hand, ensuring the beef and vegetables are evenly coated. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for the flavors to meld. For an even richer taste, marinate for an hour or longer.
Step 2
Cut the baguette into three equal portions, each about 15-20 cm long. Make sure the slices are not too thin, otherwise, they will be difficult to fill with the bulgogi mixture.
Step 3
On the top center of each baguette piece, make a deep cut using a sharp knife. Be careful not to cut all the way through the bread. Aim for about two-thirds of the baguette’s depth. Gently open the cut with your fingers to create a pocket for the filling. Avoid hollowing out too much of the bread interior, as it might crumble when baked.
Step 4
Line the inside of the cut baguette with slices of Jack cheese (or Cheddar cheese). The melting cheese will help hold the bulgogi in place and add a delicious savory note. If you don’t have Jack cheese, you can omit this step.
Step 5
Generously spoon the marinated bulgogi mixture into the cut baguette, pressing it down gently to fill the pocket. Don’t overfill, as the mixture might spill out during baking. It’s okay if it mounds slightly above the cut.
Step 6
Top the bulgogi filling with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese. Ample cheese ensures a wonderful, stretchy melt and rich flavor when baked.
Step 7
Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F). Place the filled baguettes on a baking sheet and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly, and the bulgogi is thoroughly cooked. Cooking time may vary depending on your oven. Keep an eye on the baguettes to prevent the bread from burning.
Step 8
This baked bulgogi baguette is a perfect party appetizer or a main dish for special occasions. It’s a guaranteed hit for children’s birthday parties, dinner gatherings with guests, or even as a fancy snack. Its impressive presentation and delicious flavor will surely delight everyone.
Step 9
On a table filled with various dishes, this oven-baked baguette stands out and is often the first to disappear! We highly recommend trying this recipe for its delightful combination of crispy bread, savory bulgogi, and gooey cheese!
