Utilizing Leftover Mala Sauce: A Delicious Mala Sauce Spam Stir-Fry
Have leftover mala sauce that’s hard to use up? Don’t worry! Here are three simple recipes using mala sauce. Give them a try.
Ingredients- 1/2 Onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 Green onion, diagonally sliced
- 1 can Spam, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 Tbsp Cooking oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Mala sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 pinch Black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel and wash the onion, then slice it thinly into approximately 0.5 cm thick strips. Slicing it this way will enhance its texture when stir-fried.
Step 2
Next, diagonally slice the green onion, using both the white and green parts, into about 0.5 cm thick pieces. The fragrant aroma of the green onion will add depth to the dish’s flavor.
Step 3
Open the can of Spam and drain any liquid. Then, cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 1 cm thick. It’s best to maintain a moderate thickness; cutting it too thin might cause it to break apart during stir-frying.
Step 4
Now, heat a pan and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. Once the pan is hot, add the sliced green onions and onions. Stir-fry them over high heat until they become slightly browned and fragrant. This step helps to bring out the natural sweetness of the onions and the aroma of the green onions.
Step 5
When the onions look translucent and are partially cooked, add the cut Spam. Reduce the heat to low and continue to stir-fry. Searing the Spam slightly until it’s lightly browned will add a richer, nuttier flavor.
Step 6
Once the Spam is cooked to your liking, add the 1/2 tablespoon of mala sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Turn the heat back up to high and stir-fry everything quickly until the sauce evenly coats all the ingredients. Your delicious Mala Sauce Spam Stir-Fry is ready! Enjoy it with rice or bread.
