A Special Fried Rice Made with Spam-Infused Broth
This isn’t just any fried rice! We’re using the savory broth from boiling Spam to infuse every grain of rice with its rich, umami flavor. Enjoy a satisfying meal that’s both simple and deeply delicious.
Main Ingredients- 380g warm cooked rice (approx. 1.5 bowls)
- 120g Spam (about 1/3 can)
- 2 fresh eggs
- 100g water (1/2 cup)
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- A small amount of shredded or flaked seaweed (Gim)
- 30g cooking oil (2 Tbsp)
- 15g mayonnaise (1 Tbsp)
- 10g teriyaki sauce (2 tsp)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the Spam. Cut the Spam into approximately 1cm x 1cm cubes. This size is good for chewing. Cutting them too small might reduce the textural enjoyment.

Now, let’s make a flavorful broth from the Spam! Place the cubed Spam and 100g of cold water into a frying pan. Bring it to a boil over high heat from the start. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the delicious essence of the Spam to infuse into the water. This step significantly enhances the fried rice’s overall flavor profile.

In a separate bowl, crack in 2 fresh eggs. You don’t need to whisk them separately; we’ll mix them directly with the rice.
