  • 1/4 Green Onion
  • 3 Tbsp Cooking Oil

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the fish cakes. Slice them lengthwise into strips about 1cm wide. It’s best to cut them not too thinly so they are easy for everyone to enjoy.

Step 2

To remove any excess oil and impurities from the fish cakes, which can make the stir-fry greasy, place the sliced fish cakes in a colander and pour boiling water over them. This step will rinse away the greasiness and leave you with a cleaner, more delicate flavor for your stir-fried fish cakes.

Step 3

Next, prepare the vegetables. Slice the onion into 1cm wide strips and the carrot into thin slices of similar thickness. Cut the green onion diagonally to add color and a fresh flavor.

Step 4

Now, let’s begin stir-frying. Heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic in a pan over medium-low heat. Sauté the garlic until it becomes golden brown and fragrant. It’s important to sauté the garlic first to infuse its deep flavor into the fish cakes, making the dish much more delicious.

Step 5

Once the garlic is fragrant, add the prepared fish cakes, onion, and carrot to the pan. Increase the heat to medium and stir-fry, mixing all the ingredients together evenly.

Step 6

When the vegetables start to soften slightly, reduce the heat to low. Add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Stir well to coat the fish cakes and vegetables evenly with the seasoning. Taste and adjust the sugar or soy sauce according to your preference.

Step 7

Finally, adjust the heat to medium-low. Continue to cook until the fish cakes become tender and the vegetables are halfway cooked. Then, add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and the sliced green onion, stir briefly, and turn off the heat immediately. Adding the sesame oil and green onion at the end prevents their aroma from dissipating.

Step 8

Your chewy, sweet, and savory soy-glazed fish cake stir-fry is ready! The seasoning is just right, making it perfect for snacking on its own or serving as a delightful side dish for rice. Enjoy this fantastic rice accompaniment!
