Cooking Instructions
Step 1
[Making the Steamed Fish] Pour 2 cups of water into a pot and place a steamer rack (tripod steamer) inside. Place the cleaned fish on the rack, cover with a lid, and steam over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is fully cooked. Adjust the steaming time based on the type and thickness of the fish.
Step 2
Carefully transfer the steamed fish to a serving plate. You can cut it into bite-sized pieces or serve it whole. Finally, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a simple and delicious steamed fish dish.
Step 3
[Making the Cheesy Steamed Egg] Crack 3 eggs into a bowl. Add 100ml of milk, the finely chopped chives, and a pinch of salt. Gently whisk the mixture with a fork or whisk until well combined, being careful not to create too much foam. Tear or cut the 5 slices of cheese into small pieces and add them to the egg mixture, stirring lightly.
Step 4
Pour an appropriate amount of water into a pot for steaming and bring it to a boil. Place the container holding the egg mixture (such as an earthenware pot or heat-resistant bowl) inside the steamer. Cover and steam over low heat for 10-15 minutes until the egg custard is set and has a soft, fluffy texture. It’s done when a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Garnish with black sesame seeds to finish your creamy cheese steamed egg. You can also add minced green onions for extra flavor.
