Ingredients- 3 mini croissant dough sheets
- 3 Tbsp maple syrup
- A pinch of sugar (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your mini croissant dough sheets, preferably from frozen. Place them in your air fryer basket and air fry at 150°C (300°F) for about 5 minutes. This step gently bakes them, making the dough soft and pliable for easy flattening.
Step 2
Once softened, transfer the croissant dough to a clean surface like a cutting board. Using a rolling pin or the bottom of a sturdy glass, roll out each dough sheet as thinly and as flat as possible. The thinner you roll it, the crispier your Crungie will be.
Step 3
Now, heat a non-stick pan over low heat. Line the pan with parchment paper and place the flattened croissant dough on top. Cover the dough with another piece of parchment paper, then place a heavy pot or another pan on top to press it down. This ensures the dough bakes flat without puffing up. Cook on low heat, being careful not to burn it, until the bottom is golden brown.
Step 4
Once the bottom side is nicely golden brown, carefully flip the dough over. Repeat the process: cover with parchment paper and press down with a heavy object. Cook the second side on low heat until it is also golden brown. Evenly browned on both sides is key for the perfect Crungie.
Step 5
When both sides are a beautiful golden brown, turn off the heat or reduce it to the lowest setting. Drizzle the maple syrup evenly over the cooked Crungie, and sprinkle with a little sugar if desired. Cook for an additional 30 seconds, allowing the syrup to caramelize slightly. Let it cool completely before enjoying for maximum crispiness!
