Smooth Broccoli Puree for Early Infant Feeding
This is an early infant food made with broccoli, perfect for your baby’s first tastes!
I made this delicious broccoli puree for my baby’s early infant stage! It’s packed with nutrients and made with love. ^^*
Ingredients- 1 head of fresh broccoli
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, trim off the tough stem of the broccoli and discard it. You’ll be using only the florets. Wash the broccoli florets thoroughly under running water. To ensure they are clean, soak the florets in a bowl of water for about 20 minutes, with the florets facing downwards.
Step 2
After soaking, remove the broccoli from the water and rinse them again by gently swirling them in clean water. This helps to remove any remaining dirt or tiny insects.
Step 3
Cut the washed broccoli into smaller pieces that are easy to steam. Cutting them into bite-sized florets will help ensure even cooking, resulting in a softer texture for your baby.
Step 4
Place the cut broccoli into a steamer basket. Steam over high heat, with the lid on, for 10 minutes. This steaming time will make the broccoli very tender and easy to mash.
Step 5
It’s okay if the broccoli cooked a little longer than expected; tender broccoli is key for baby food! Once steamed, remove the broccoli from the steamer and let it cool down slightly.
Step 6
Once the broccoli has cooled down a bit, transfer it to a blender. Add a small amount of water if needed to help achieve a very smooth, lump-free puree. Blending until it’s completely smooth is important for your baby’s digestion.
Step 7
Portion the smooth broccoli puree into baby food cubes, approximately 15g per cube. This makes it convenient for serving and allows for easy freezing. Frozen puree stays fresh for a long time.
Step 8
To serve, transfer the frozen broccoli puree from the freezer to the refrigerator the night before. The next day, gently warm it using a microwave or a double boiler until it’s comfortably warm. Always test the temperature to ensure it’s safe for your baby before feeding. Enjoy watching your baby explore this nutritious new food!
