Smoked Duck Stir-fry: A Delicious Way to Use Leftover Vegetables
A Simple and Healthy Smoked Duck Stir-fry Recipe Using Kitchen Scraps
This recipe is a delightful way to whip up a flavorful and nutritious dish using smoked duck and fresh vegetables. The smoked duck itself is seasoned, so you don’t need many additional ingredients to create a delicious meal. It’s perfect for using up leftover vegetables from other dishes like fresh spring rolls or anything you have in your fridge.
Main Ingredients- 500g Smoked Duck
- 1 Bell Pepper (1/2 each of red and yellow, or other colors)
- 1/4 Onion
- 1 handful Chives
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables by washing and chopping them into bite-sized pieces. Peel the onion and cut it into quarters, then slice it into about 1cm thick cubes. This size helps maintain a pleasant texture when stir-fried.
Step 2
Next, prepare the bell pepper. Remove the seeds and stem, then dice it into pieces similar in size to the onion cubes. Using a variety of colorful bell peppers makes the dish visually appealing and adds more nutrients.
Step 3
Wash the fresh chives thoroughly, pat them dry, and cut them into lengths of about 4-5 cm. Chives are added at the very end to preserve their crisp texture and fresh aroma.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat and add the smoked duck slices. Since the duck is already cooked, you don’t need to add any oil; simply place it directly into the hot pan.
Step 5
Stir-fry the smoked duck until it releases plenty of its delicious natural oils and becomes nicely browned. This process enhances the duck’s flavor.
Step 6
Once the duck has rendered enough fat, add the prepared onion and bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry them with the duck. Do not add the chives yet.
Step 7
While stir-frying the vegetables, add the seasoning for the smoked duck stir-fry. Using a standard tablespoon measure, add 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, and 1 Tbsp oyster sauce. Stir everything together until well combined. Taste as you go, as the smoked duck is already seasoned, and adjust the seasoning if needed.
Step 8
Continue to stir-fry until the vegetables are tender-crisp, with the onion becoming slightly translucent. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy.
Step 9
When the vegetables are cooked to your liking and the duck is nicely browned, carefully ladle out about one spoonful of excess oil from the pan. This step makes the stir-fry lighter and cleaner tasting.
Step 10
Be mindful not to remove too much oil, as this can make the duck taste a bit dry. The goal is to remove some of the greasiness while keeping the duck moist and tender.
Step 11
Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of sesame seeds for added nutty flavor, stir-fry briefly for another moment, and then turn off the heat.
Step 12
Turn off the heat and use the residual heat of the pan to toss in the prepared chives. Stir gently just until the chives wilt slightly. This completes your smoked duck stir-fry.
Step 13
This quick and easy smoked duck stir-fry is perfect for a simple weeknight dinner or as a tasty appetizer.
Step 14
Packed with a variety of vegetables, this dish offers a healthy and balanced meal with both duck and greens.
Step 15
By draining some of the oil mid-cooking, you achieve a wonderfully light and clean-tasting smoked duck stir-fry. Enjoy!
