When you have no side dishes ready and the freezer is empty, and you’re too lazy to go grocery shopping, I made tuna steak using a 150g canned tuna from my pantry! It’s a quick and satisfying meal.

Main Ingredients

  • Canned Tuna 150g (drained)
  • Small amount of Carrot (finely minced)
  • 1/4 Onion (finely minced)
  • 1 Egg
  • 2/3 cup Flour
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, drain the oil completely from the 150g can of tuna using a sieve. Place the drained tuna in a bowl. Add the finely minced carrot and onion. Crack in 1 egg, add a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper, and 2/3 cup of flour. Mix everything together to form a cohesive mixture.

Step 1

Step 2

Once the mixture is somewhat combined, lightly wet your hands or keep them dry, then take portions of the mixture and shape them into flat, round patties. Kneading the mixture gently with your hands can help create a more cohesive texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a frying pan over medium heat with a generous amount of cooking oil. Reduce the heat to low and cook slowly. It’s crucial for the inside to be cooked through, so cover the pan with a lid. Cook over medium-low heat, flipping occasionally, until both sides are golden brown. Ensure it cooks for at least 10 minutes.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, let’s make the steak sauce. In a small pot or saucepan, combine 6 Tbsp of Tonkatsu sauce, 3 Tbsp of ketchup, 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 Tbsp of oligodang, and 2/3 cup of water. Stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat, and let it cook for about 3 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the cooked tuna steaks on a plate attractively. Generously drizzle the warm steak sauce over the tuna. Finally, add a zigzag drizzle of mustard sauce for garnish. Your delicious homemade tuna steak is now complete!
