Whip up a delicious meal using leftover cold rice, some Spam, and whatever vegetables you have in the fridge, all stir-fried with savory oyster sauce. This simple and flavorful fried rice is perfect as a solo meal and highly recommended for a quick, satisfying dish. Enjoy a taste of comfort any day!
Main Ingredients- 1 bowl cooked rice (preferably slightly warm)
- 1/3 can Spam (approx. 70-80g)
- 1/3 stalk green onion (white part)
- 1/4 onion
- 1/4 carrot
- 1 Tbsp canned corn (drained)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, briefly rinse the Spam by pouring hot water over it. This helps to make it a bit cleaner to handle. Dice it into small cubes, about 1cm in size.
Step 2
Finely chop the green onion. Dice the onion and carrot into small pieces, similar in size to the Spam (about 1cm). Uniformly sized vegetables ensure they cook at the same rate.

Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Add the chopped green onion and stir-fry until fragrant, allowing the onion’s aroma to infuse the oil. This creates a flavorful base for your fried rice.

Once the green onion is fragrant, add the diced onion and carrot. Increase the heat to medium and continue to stir-fry until the vegetables are slightly translucent.

Sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt over the vegetables to lightly season them. Remember that Spam is already salty, so it’s best to use salt sparingly.

Now, add the diced Spam to the pan. Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper over everything and stir-fry together. Allow the Spam to render some of its fat, which will help coat the vegetables and add flavor.

As the Spam begins to turn golden brown, add the drained canned corn. Stir-fry for another minute. The sweet pop of corn kernels adds a delightful texture and sweetness to the fried rice.
