Delicious Ways to Enjoy Smoked Duck: Stir-fried Smoked Duck & Lettuce Wraps
I previously shared a recipe for Chashu Rice Bowls, and this time, I’ve used that same sauce to create a delicious smoked duck stir-fry! It’s an #easyrecipe that’s incredibly tasty when wrapped in crisp lettuce. Let’s whip this up quickly!
Main Ingredients- 1 pack Smoked Duck (approx. 400g)
- 1/2 head Lettuce
Stir-fry Sauce- 8 Tbsp Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup)
- 4 Tbsp Mirin (Rice Wine)
- 5 Tbsp Water
- 1 stalk Green Onion (chopped)
- 1/4 tsp Ginger Powder
- 8 Tbsp Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup)
- 4 Tbsp Mirin (Rice Wine)
- 5 Tbsp Water
- 1 stalk Green Onion (chopped)
- 1/4 tsp Ginger Powder
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Since smoked duck is already seasoned, I used less soy sauce compared to the chashu rice bowl recipe. This stir-fry is designed to be eaten as a wrap with lettuce, so it pairs wonderfully with rice. If you don’t have low-sodium soy sauce, you can use 6 tablespoons of regular regular soy sauce or brewed soy sauce. Everyone’s taste is different, so feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce to your preference!
Step 2
First, microwave the smoked duck for about 3 minutes. This helps to render some of the excess fat, making the stir-fry cleaner.
Step 3
In a small pot or pan, combine 8 tablespoons of low-sodium soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of oligodang, 4 tablespoons of mirin, and 5 tablespoons of water. Add 1 chopped green onion and 1/4 teaspoon of ginger powder. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat and simmer until the sauce slightly thickens. The green onion will infuse the sauce with its aroma, creating a delicious base.
Step 4
Remove the smoked duck from the microwave and drain off any excess oil that has accumulated in the pan.
Step 5
Pour the delicious homemade sauce you just made over the smoked duck.
Step 6
Gently add the duck into the sauce, ensuring it’s well coated. Toss everything together to make sure the duck is fully submerged in the flavorful sauce.
Step 7
Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer gently for about 5 minutes, allowing the duck to absorb the flavors of the sauce. Stir occasionally to ensure even coating. The rendered duck fat and sauce will meld together to create a wonderfully savory dish.
Step 8
Separate the lettuce leaves, wash them thoroughly under running water, and drain well. Prepare them for wrapping. Serve the hot rice and smoked duck stir-fry. While delicious on its own, I highly recommend enjoying it as a wrap! Place some rice and the stir-fried duck onto a lettuce leaf and wrap it up. It’s a simple yet incredibly satisfying meal. Even kids love it! While regular lettuce is fine, the crispness of iceberg lettuce is particularly wonderful for this dish. Enjoy your delicious wraps!
