Easy Banana Dessert: Delicious Pan-Fried Bananas, Inspired by Park Na-rae’s Brûlée

Simple Pan-Fried Banana Brûlée (No Torch Needed!)

Many of you are likely making Park Na-rae’s popular banana brûlée these days! It’s not only delicious but also incredibly easy to whip up as a simple dessert. Last time, I showed you how to make it quickly with a culinary torch. Today, I’m sharing a version made without one. While a torch does give that signature crispy caramelized sugar top, this pan-fried version with butter is incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The butter adds a wonderful richness that elevates the simple banana. While the texture of the caramelized sugar is different from the torched version, the buttery sweetness makes it a delightful treat for everyone. It’s perfect as a quick snack for kids or a sweet ending to your meal.

  • Occasion : Snack
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 1 Banana
  • 3 Strawberries (for garnish)

For Sweetness & Flavor

  • 2 Tbsp Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp Butter

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the banana thoroughly. Even though you won’t be eating the peel, it’s good practice to wash it well since it comes into contact with the fruit during preparation. After washing, pat the banana completely dry with a paper towel. Then, cut the banana in half lengthwise.

Step 1

Step 2

Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the cut surface of each banana half. One tablespoon per half is usually a good amount, but feel free to adjust based on your sweetness preference – add more if you like it sweeter, or less if you prefer a less sweet dessert.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the tablespoon of butter and let it melt. Once the butter has melted, carefully place the banana halves into the pan, sugar-side down. This is how you’ll pan-fry the bananas. As the sugar melts, it will beautifully combine with the butter, creating a rich, caramelized coating.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the cut side of the banana is nicely golden brown and the sugar has started to melt and become glossy, carefully transfer the cooked banana halves to a serving plate. Your delicious pan-fried banana dessert is ready! This is a fantastic option for a kids’ snack or a simple homemade treat.

Step 4

Step 5

To make it even more visually appealing, arrange the 3 fresh strawberries on top of the cooked bananas. This adds a lovely touch and gives it a ‘banana brûlée’ aesthetic. Doesn’t it look tempting?

Step 5

Step 6

While we haven’t achieved the ultra-crispy caramelized sugar layer that a culinary torch provides, the sugar naturally melts and caramelizes with the butter in the pan, creating a different but equally delightful rich and sweet dessert.

Step 6

Step 7

Enjoy the pan-fried banana on its own, or try pairing it with fresh strawberries or other favorite fruits. For an even more enjoyable experience, serve it with a warm cup of Americano. The sweetness of the banana complements the slight bitterness of the coffee, making it a perfect pairing for a delightful dessert moment.
