Simple One-Pan Tomato Spaghetti for Kids
Easy & Delicious Toddler Tomato Spaghetti Recipe (Made in One Pan!)
Introducing a special recipe loved by my 36-month-old as tonight’s dinner choice! This recipe is incredibly quick and easy, thanks to using a store-bought sauce. The key to its deliciousness, especially for kids, is cooking the pasta thoroughly without adding extra seasonings. Plus, it’s a one-pan dish, minimizing your cleanup! Let’s make this magical spaghetti that the whole family can enjoy!
Ingredients- Spaghetti pasta, 1 serving (approx. 80-100g)
- Zucchini, a small amount (cut into bite-sized pieces for toddlers)
- Oyster mushrooms, a small bunch (torn or chopped into manageable pieces)
- Onion, 1/4 (finely minced)
- Ham, 40g (cut into fun shapes your kids will love)
Sauce & Seasoning- Store-bought tomato pasta sauce, 5 Tbsp
- Water, 500ml (adjust based on desired sauce consistency)
- Grated Parmesan cheese, a pinch (for extra flavor!)
- Store-bought tomato pasta sauce, 5 Tbsp
- Water, 500ml (adjust based on desired sauce consistency)
- Grated Parmesan cheese, a pinch (for extra flavor!)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Pour 500ml of water into a wide pan and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the spaghetti pasta for one serving. Use chopsticks to gently separate the strands as they cook to prevent sticking. Boil for about 8-10 minutes until the pasta is al dente or cooked to your liking.
Step 2
While the pasta is cooking, prepare the other ingredients. Chop the zucchini, tear or chop the oyster mushrooms, mince the onion, and cut the ham into shapes that are easy for toddlers to eat. Finely mincing or thinly slicing vegetables can help picky eaters enjoy them more.
Step 3
When the pasta is about 2/3 cooked (around 5-6 minutes into cooking), add the prepared zucchini, oyster mushrooms, onion, and ham directly into the pan. Let them cook along with the pasta, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Step 4
Once all ingredients are cooked and there’s a bit of liquid left, carefully drain more than half of the water from the pan. (This helps prevent the pasta from becoming too mushy or salty). Then, add 5 tablespoons of the store-bought tomato pasta sauce. Stir well to combine everything, and let it simmer over medium-low heat for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the pasta beautifully.
Step 5
When the sauce has thickened nicely and smells wonderfully aromatic, reduce the heat to low. Sprinkle a generous pinch of grated Parmesan cheese over the top. The cheese will melt, adding a lovely depth of flavor.
Step 6
After adding the cheese, gently stir everything together one or two more times to ensure the sauce is evenly distributed. Be careful not to overmix, as this can break the pasta. Your delicious toddler tomato spaghetti is now ready!
Step 7
Transfer the finished spaghetti to a cute plate that your child will love. Imagine your child happily enjoying their meal, blowing on it gently. Enjoy your time creating a joyful dinner moment for the whole family!
