Don’t Waste Leftover Gimbap! Learn How to Make Delicious Gimbap Fried Rice.
Have you ever wondered what to do with leftover gimbap or its ingredients? This recipe shows you how to easily make a flavorful fried rice. It’s a simple yet satisfying meal that transforms leftovers into something special.
Ingredients- 2 bowls of cooked rice (warm)
- 5 strips of pickled radish (danmuji, approx. 50g)
- 5 strips of ham (approx. 50g)
- 5 strips of seasoned burdock root (ueong, approx. 50g)
- 5 strips of egg garnish (approx. 50g)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your gimbap ingredients or any leftover gimbap you have. If you have whole gimbap rolls, you can separate the fillings to use in the fried rice.
Step 2
Next, chop all the prepared ingredients (pickled radish, ham, burdock root, and egg garnish) into bite-sized pieces. Using scissors makes this process quick and easy. Aim for uniform pieces, about 0.5cm x 0.5cm.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Let the oil warm up gently until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
Step 4
Add the chopped ingredients to the pan and stir-fry for about 3 minutes. Sautéing them in the sesame oil will bring out their flavors and slightly cook the ham and burdock, improving their texture.
Step 5
Once the ingredients are lightly sautéed, add 2 bowls of warm cooked rice. Gently break up any clumps of rice with your spatula or spoon and stir-fry for about 2 minutes, until the rice grains are separate and slightly toasted.
Step 6
When the rice is well combined with the ingredients, add 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce for an extra boost of savory flavor. Continue to stir-fry for another minute, ensuring the oyster sauce is evenly distributed.
Step 7
Stir-fry until the oyster sauce is fully incorporated, coating all the ingredients and rice with a glossy sheen. Your delicious Gimbap Fried Rice is now ready! Serve immediately while warm.
