How to Make Easy & Tasty Tuna Mayo Rice Balls at Home
Make perfect tuna mayo rice balls for a quick meal solution! The combination of fluffy rice and creamy, savory tuna mayo filling is a hit with everyone, from kids to adults.
Main Ingredients- 2 bowls of freshly cooked warm rice
- 1 can of tuna (drained)
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 medium onion (finely minced)
- 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1/2 sheet of gimbap seaweed
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the tuna mayo filling. In a bowl, combine the drained tuna, finely minced onion, 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly with a spoon until well combined. If you prefer a bit of crunch, you don’t need to mince the onion too finely.
Step 2
Now, let’s season the rice. Take 2 bowls of freshly cooked, warm rice. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma and a pinch of salt to season. Gently mix the rice with a spoon, trying not to mash the grains, until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Step 3
It’s time to shape the rice balls. Use a triangular rice ball mold. Fill the bottom of the mold with about one-third of the seasoned rice and press it down gently with the back of a spoon to form a base. Then, create a small indentation in the center of the rice to make space for the filling.
Step 4
Spoon the prepared tuna mayo filling generously into the indentation in the rice. Carefully cover the filling with the remaining seasoned rice, ensuring it doesn’t spill out. Gently press the rice to fill the mold completely and match its shape.
Step 5
Carefully unmold the rice ball from the triangle mold. Take pieces of gimbap seaweed cut to size and wrap them around the sides of the rice ball. To attach the seaweed neatly, consider wearing plastic gloves as this prevents the rice from sticking to your fingers. Your delicious tuna mayo rice balls are now ready to be enjoyed!
