Simple & Delicious Homemade Tomato Spaghetti
Easy Recipe for a Wonderful Tomato Spaghetti
I made some tomato spaghetti today after a long time! I used a garlic and onion flavored sauce and added chicken breast for a simple yet incredibly delicious dish. It’s wonderfully satisfying and easy to make with ingredients you likely have on hand. Give it a try!
Main Ingredients- Spaghetti pasta 250g
- Jarred tomato pasta sauce 340g (choose one with garlic and onion flavor)
- Fresh mushrooms 2 pcs
- Green bell pepper 1/4 pc
- Chicken breast 200g
- Shredded mozzarella cheese, desired amount
Seasoning & Others- Herb salt, to taste
- Olive oil 2 Tbsp
- Water (for boiling pasta)
- Herb salt, to taste
- Olive oil 2 Tbsp
- Water (for boiling pasta)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt. Once boiling, add the spaghetti pasta (250g) and cook for about 7 minutes, or until al dente (slightly firm to the bite). (Tip: Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining. This can be used to adjust the sauce consistency later.)
Step 2
While the pasta is cooking, prepare the other ingredients. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces or shred it. Thinly slice the green bell pepper. (Tip: Lightly season the chicken breast with herb salt or pepper for extra flavor.)
Step 3
For the mushrooms, remove the stems and then tear them into bite-sized pieces by hand. Tearing them helps them meld better with the sauce and adds a pleasant texture. (Tip: Feel free to add other vegetables you enjoy, such as onions or garlic.)
Step 4
Heat a deep skillet or wok over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the prepared chicken breast and sauté until it’s no longer pink on the outside.
Step 5
Once the chicken is mostly cooked, add the sliced green bell pepper to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until the pepper slightly softens and releases its aroma.
Step 6
Drain the cooked pasta and add it directly to the skillet with the chicken and peppers. Toss gently to combine.
Step 7
Add the torn mushrooms to the skillet. Mix them with the pasta, chicken, and peppers, and cook briefly until the mushrooms are tender.
Step 8
Pour in the jarred tomato pasta sauce (340g). Stir everything together thoroughly to ensure the sauce coats all the ingredients. Let it simmer over low heat for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. (Tip: If the sauce seems too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.)
Step 9
Just before turning off the heat, sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the pasta. Stir gently just until the cheese melts and becomes gooey, coating the spaghetti. (Tip: Don’t hesitate to add more cheese if you love it!)
Step 10
Serve immediately onto warm plates. For an extra touch, garnish with a sprinkle of parsley flakes or grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy your delicious homemade spaghetti!
