Create a satisfying meal using leftover crab sticks and vegetables from your fridge! Crab stick fried rice is a crowd-pleaser, known for its simple preparation and rich, savory flavor. It’s a magical recipe that will have you clearing your plate in no time. Try it with any leftover crab sticks you have!
Ingredients- 2 bowls of rice (warm)
- 70g crab sticks
- 35g onion (about 1/4 medium)
- 35g zucchini (about 1/5 small)
- 20g carrot (about 1/8 medium)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2-3 pinches of salt
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- A little toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 egg (for fried egg topping)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables and crab sticks for the fried rice. Wash the zucchini, onion, and carrot thoroughly and dice them finely. Shred or cut the crab sticks into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm).
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a preheated frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the diced onion first and sauté until fragrant. Cook until the onion becomes translucent.

Once the onion starts to turn translucent, add the diced carrot and zucchini. Stir-fry them together for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.

When the vegetables are cooked, add the prepared crab sticks. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly for about 1 minute, being careful not to mash the crab sticks. Gently mix them with the other ingredients.

Now, add 2 bowls of warm rice. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry, ensuring the rice is well combined with all the ingredients. It’s important to mix evenly to prevent the rice from sticking together.

Once the rice is well mixed with the other ingredients, reduce the heat slightly. Pour 1 tablespoon of soy sauce around the edges of the pan and let it sizzle and cook into the rice. Add 2-3 pinches of salt to enhance the flavor and season to your liking.

After all the ingredients are well-fried and seasoned, turn off the heat. Stir in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds. Adding sesame oil after turning off the heat preserves its aroma and enhances the overall flavor.

Finally, prepare a fried egg to top the fried rice. You can cook it to your preference, either sunny-side up or fully cooked.
