Simple Crab Stick Fried Rice Recipe for One
Easy Crab Stick Fried Rice with Oyster Sauce – A Must-Try for Solo Living!
This is a go-to recipe I often made when I lived alone. It’s a delicious fried rice featuring oyster sauce and crab sticks, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!
Main Ingredients- 4 imitation crab sticks (surimi)
- 1/3 carrot
- 1/3 onion
- 2 stalks green onion
- 1 bowl cooked rice, warm
- 1 egg
Seasoning- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp sugar
- 4 Tbsp cooking oil
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp sugar
- 4 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely chop the green onions. Heat 4 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over low heat. Add the chopped green onions and slowly stir-fry until fragrant, creating aromatic green onion oil. Frying the green onions until golden brown will enhance the flavor of your fried rice.
Step 2
Once the green onion oil is sufficiently infused, add the finely diced carrots and stir-fry. When the carrots begin to look slightly translucent, add the diced onion and continue to stir-fry. Sautéing until the onions are transparent will bring out their natural sweetness.
Step 3
When the vegetables are partially cooked, add a bowl of warm cooked rice. Use a spatula to break up any clumps and stir-fry for about 1 minute. This step ensures the rice grains are separate and fluffy.
Step 4
Shred or finely chop the imitation crab sticks. Add them to the pan with the rice and stir-fry for just about 30 seconds. Be careful not to overcook, as the crab sticks can become dry.
Step 5
Push the fried rice and ingredients to one side of the pan to create space. Crack the egg into the empty space and scramble it. Stir it with chopsticks or a spatula until it’s cooked.
Step 6
Once the scrambled egg is about halfway cooked, mix it thoroughly with the rice and stir-fry everything together again. The egg will coat the rice grains, adding a smoother texture.
Step 7
Now it’s time for seasoning. Add 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce and 0.5 tablespoon of sugar. Stir-fry for another minute, ensuring all ingredients are well combined with the sauce. The oyster sauce will coat each grain of rice, adding a rich umami flavor.
Step 8
To serve, pack the delicious crab stick fried rice tightly into a bowl. Invert the bowl onto a plate to create a nicely shaped serving. You’ll have a beautiful and satisfying meal ready to enjoy!
