Simple Braised Tofu with All-Purpose Soy Sauce
Effortless Tofu Braise Recipe Using an All-Purpose Soy Sauce
Wondering what to cook for dinner tonight? I made a simple braised tofu using my all-purpose soy sauce. This recipe is incredibly easy to make and results in delicious braised tofu!
Main Ingredients- 1 block Tofu (approx. 300-400g)
- 2 Korean Green Chilies (Cheongyang peppers)
- 1 stalk Green Onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients. Wash and chop them as needed. Slice the tofu into bite-sized pieces, about 1.5 to 2 cm thick. Finely chop the Korean green chilies for a bit of heat and slice the green onion diagonally.
Step 2
Arrange the sliced tofu in a single layer at the bottom of a wide pot or wok. Be gentle to prevent the tofu from breaking.
Step 3
Evenly sprinkle the chopped Korean green chilies and diagonally sliced green onion over the tofu. This adds a beautiful color and aromatic flavor.
Step 4
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce. Combine the all-purpose soy sauce, gochugaru (Korean chili flakes), and minced garlic in a bowl. Mix them well. If you don’t have all-purpose soy sauce, you can create a similar seasoning by combining regular soy sauce, sugar, and corn syrup in appropriate proportions.
Step 5
Pour the 3/4 cup of water over the ingredients and seasoning. This water will help create a savory broth as the tofu braises.
Step 6
Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium. Let it simmer gently, partially uncovered, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld into the tofu. Gently shake the pot occasionally to ensure even coating of the sauce. Cook until the sauce is reduced to your desired consistency.
