Simple Bacon and Egg Fried Rice
10-Minute Bacon and Egg Fried Rice Recipe
This is an incredibly simple bacon and egg fried rice, perfect for a quick breakfast for your little ones. I used to make fried rice like this frequently for my children, changing the ingredients slightly, and decided to make it again after a long time. It’s a perfect meal that balances taste, nutrition, and speed.
Ingredients
- 1 strip thick-cut bacon (approx. 50g), finely chopped
- 1 fresh egg
- 1 handful green onion (white parts, approx. 30g), finely chopped
- 1 bowl warm cooked rice (approx. 200g)
- 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce (approx. 7.5ml)
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil (approx. 30ml)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and the finely chopped green onions. Sauté them over medium heat, stirring gently, until fragrant and a delicious green onion oil is formed. Be careful not to burn the green onions, as this will enhance the flavor of your fried rice.
Step 2
Add the 1 bowl of warm cooked rice to the pan with the fragrant green onion oil. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and mix it well with the green onion oil, stirring and tossing. Fluffing the rice as you stir-fry will result in a more delicious fried rice.
Step 3
Sprinkle the 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce evenly over the rice. Oyster sauce is a magical ingredient that elevates the savory depth of fried rice. Stir-fry briefly to combine the oyster sauce with the rice.
Step 4
Now, it’s time to add the stars of the dish. Push the rice to one side of the pan to create space. Crack the 1 egg into the empty space and scramble it with chopsticks until just cooked. Once the scrambled egg is forming, mix it into the rice. Add the finely chopped bacon you prepared earlier and continue to stir-fry everything together. The bacon will release its flavorful fat, further enhancing the fried rice. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes until all ingredients are well combined and heated through. Your delicious bacon and egg fried rice is now ready! It tastes best served immediately while warm.
