Tofu and Egg Gratin: A Quick, Healthy Meal on Hot, Lazy Days
When you don’t want to stand in front of a hot stove and crave a healthy meal, this Tofu and Egg Gratin is perfect, especially when you have plenty of vegetables in the fridge! It’s a great way to solve a meal problem easily and quickly. Enjoy a satisfying and nutritious dish with minimal effort.
Ingredients- 1 pack of soft tofu (about 300-350g)
- 40g mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 onion
- 2 button mushrooms
- 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1 clove garlic, minced)
- 100ml store-bought tomato sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients for the dish. Wash the onion and mushrooms thoroughly.

Remove the stems from the button mushrooms and slice them thinly (about 0.5cm thick), or chop them finer for a smoother texture.

Peel the onion and mince it very finely. If you’re cooking for children, mince it even smaller.

Carefully remove the soft tofu from its packaging. Using a knife, gently cut it into 2-3 pieces that are easy to eat, being careful not to break its shape. Cutting it into bite-sized pieces that can be scooped with a spoon is ideal.

In a microwave-safe dish, combine the minced mushrooms, minced onion, and minced garlic. Mix well and microwave for about 2 minutes until the vegetables are cooked. This brings out the sweetness of the vegetables and reduces cooking time.

After microwaving, arrange the prepared soft tofu pieces attractively on top of the cooked vegetables. Try to maintain the shape of the tofu as you place it.

Evenly drizzle the store-bought tomato sauce over the soft tofu. You can adjust the amount of sauce according to your preference.

Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the tomato sauce. The melting cheese will add a rich flavor to the entire dish.

Now for the highlight of the gratin! Carefully crack the egg into the center of the soft tofu. The key is to place it without breaking the yolk.

Place the gratin dish with all the ingredients into the microwave and cook for another 6 minutes. Adjust the time until the cheese is melted and golden brown, and the egg is cooked to your liking. (Cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage.)
