How to Make Tuna Mayo Rice Balls – Baek Jong-won Recipe
This is a perfect recipe for simple lunchboxes: easy-to-make tuna mayo rice balls! Enjoy their creamy and savory flavor.
Tuna Mayo Rice Ball Ingredients- 1 bowl of cooked rice (warm)
- 1 small can of tuna
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise (using a large Korean soup spoon for measurement)
- 2 Tbsp seasoned seaweed flakes (can substitute with crumbled dried seaweed)
- A small amount of white kimchi or pickled radish (finely chopped)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, combine 1 bowl of warm cooked rice. Drain the oil from the tuna can and add it to the rice. Add 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of seasoned seaweed flakes, and the finely chopped white kimchi (or pickled radish). Mix everything thoroughly with a spatula or spoon until well combined. If you don’t have white kimchi or pickled radish, you can omit it, but adding it will enhance the savory taste and add a delightful crunch.
Step 2
Take a portion of the rice mixture, about a handful, and place it in your palm. Gently shape it into a round ball without pressing too hard. You can make them small for children or bite-sized. If the rice sticks to your hands, slightly wet them with water or wear disposable gloves for easier handling.
Step 3
Once shaped, your creamy and savory tuna mayo rice balls are ready! You can sprinkle a little more seaweed flakes or sesame seeds on top for garnish if you like. These rice balls are delicious eaten immediately or packed into a lunchbox for a satisfying meal.
