Main Ingredients- 1 chicken breast (approx. 150-200g)
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 green onion, cut lengthwise
- 1 egg
- 1 instant rice (e.g., Hetbahn)
Donburi Sauce- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking sake (mirin or Cheongju)
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- A pinch of black pepper
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking sake (mirin or Cheongju)
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s make the delicious donburi sauce! In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp cooking sake, 1 Tbsp sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved. Set the sauce aside.
Step 2
Next, prepare the chicken breast. Slice the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces (about 1-1.5cm thick). Heat about 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chicken breast and stir-fry until the surfaces are lightly browned. Stir occasionally to prevent the chicken from clumping.
Step 3
Once the chicken breast is partially cooked, add the thinly sliced onion and stir-fry together. Cook until the onions become translucent and softened. The sweetness of the onions will enhance the flavor with the chicken breast.
Step 4
When the onions are translucent, add the green onions cut lengthwise and stir-fry for about 1 more minute to release their aroma. Now, pour in all of the prepared donburi sauce. Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the ingredients are coated in the sauce and it thickens slightly. Be careful not to burn it.
Step 5
Finally, arrange the stir-fried chicken breast and vegetables attractively over the cooked rice. Carefully crack one egg directly over the mixture. Immediately cover the pan with a lid and cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until the egg reaches your desired doneness. Adjust the cooking time if you prefer a runnier yolk. Your delicious chicken breast donburi is ready!
