Main Ingredients

  • 22 Eggs
  • 2 Tbsp Salt
  • 6 Dried Red Chilies (spicy)
  • A pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds

Braising Liquid Ingredients

  • 1 cup Soy Sauce (200ml)
  • 1 cup Water (200ml)
  • 1 pack Ssanghwa-tang (Korean herbal tea concentrate) (100ml)
  • 5 Tbsp Oligodang (Korean corn syrup)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, in a pot suitable for boiling eggs, place the eggs. Add water and 2 tablespoons of salt. Once the water begins to boil, reduce the heat to medium and cook for about 10-12 minutes until hard-boiled. After boiling, rinse the eggs under cold water to cool them down. Carefully peel the shells, ensuring the eggs remain intact and clean. Handle them gently to avoid cracking.

Step 1

Step 2

In a deep pan or pot, combine the soy sauce, water, and 1 pack of Ssanghwa-tang to create the braising liquid base. Set aside the oligodang for later use.

Step 2

Step 3

Bring the braising liquid to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, carefully add the peeled hard-boiled eggs. Reduce the heat to low. Gently shake the pan back and forth or use a spatula to roll the eggs, ensuring the braising liquid evenly coats and penetrates them as it reduces. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning.

Step 3

Step 4

When the braising liquid has reduced to a simmer, add the 5 tablespoons of oligodang and continue to cook until the eggs develop a glossy sheen. Finally, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Your beautifully glazed and flavorful Korean herbal braised eggs are now ready! Enjoy them with a warm bowl of rice.
